Forget about clearing brush.

My hope is that Bush will spend his remaining years removing shoes thrown on his lawn, glued to his presidential library and generally strewn in his path.

Footwear has been a powerful symbol of resistance.  

Fields of empty boots have been arrayed to represent the dead US soldiers who have otherwise been excised from the media and public conscience.

Then, of course,  are the famed Shoes of Muntazer al-Zaidi
